Nancy Katherine (Kounter) Hammond died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Penrose-St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. She was 57.
The daughter of Claude and Edith Kounter, she was born Dec. 3, 1946, in
Neodesha. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1964. She married
Brian Hammond in 1967.
Nancy was a registered medical assistant, working for various physicians in Omaha, NE, and Colorado Springs, CO. She was also employed as a medical training instructor at Gateway College in Omaha and at Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs. The Hammonds moved to Colorado Springs after her husband retired from the Air Force.
Survivors included her husband Brian, of the home; two daughters, Michelle Crago and Rebecca Hammond, both of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Elizabeth Thompson of Neodesha and Glenna Venn of Winfield; and two grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents and a daughter, Melissa.
Graveside services were at Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of Penwell Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha.
