Shelia (Schoonover) Kaufman

Shelia C. Kaufman, 67, of Neodesha, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.

Photo of Shelia KaufmanShelia was born on July 24, 1946, in Neodesha to John and Erma (Hallbauer) Schoonover. She grew up in Neodesha and attended Neodesha schools. She married Kenneth Kaufman on Sept. 29, 1967, in Miami, Okla. They lived in Burlington, Kan., for a while and then in Neodesha since. Shelia worked in restaurants with her mother and in several area factories. The past six years she worked with her son at Sign Design in Neodesha.

She was member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Neodesha. She loved being with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Robert and his wife Dawn Kaufman, of Neodesha; four daughters: Becky and husband Gary Frazier of Coffeyville, Kan.; Lisa and husband Josh Shoop of Neodesha; Carla and husband Andy Green of Bentonville, Ark.; and Wendy Adams of Florida; one sister, Theta Devoe of Fredonia, Kan.; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Melvern, Carl, Duane and Loren; and five sisters: Betty Harshman, Mary Ann Dannels, Arlene Busick, Barbara Craig Reynolds and Lorene McKenzie.

At Shelia's request, she was cremated. A memorial services was held Saturday, Feb. 22, the Church of the Nazarene in Neodesha.
