Jennie Ann Burns, 72, of Abilene, Kan., died April 20, 2019, at her home. She was born July 1, 1946, in Neodesha, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Spicer) Jacobs. She graduated from Neodesha High School and had been a longtime Abilene resident.
Jennie was a bus driver and worked for West’s Plaza Country Mart for several years before retiring. She enjoyed playing computer games, crocheting and crafts, and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
In July of 1964 Jennie married Jack Burns in Neodesha. He survives at the home. Other survivors include her daughter Ella and husband Lyle Westendorf of Abilene; son John Burns of Farmington, Mo.; brother Delbert Norris of Neodesha; sister Mary Smith of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; granddaughters Michell and Monnica; and great-grandsons Jackson, Anthony, Bradley and Abraham. She was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, and on April 15, 2012, her son James.
Jennie's funeral was April 20, 2019, in Abilete with Rev. Justin Panzer officiating. She was buried in Rose Meron Cemetery near Longford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tammy Walker Cancer Fund in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kan., 67410.
